The ‘Diaspora’ is often misunderstood, mispronounced and certainly underestimated. The word stems from the Greek for the dispersed seed (‘dia’ – dispersed, ‘spora’ – seed), to denote people from different origins scattered throughout the world, to the ‘four winds’.
Back in 2010-11, working for Northern Ireland’s outward looking development agencies, Mark Finlay was honored to author the region’s Global Diaspora strategy, seeking to better understand the Northern Irish diaspora and establish how to engage and activate this powerful strategic asset.
In the process of framing his recommendations Finlay was privileged to interview, and in many cases befriend, thousands of incredible people, each with fascinating stories and willingness to help their ‘homeland’.
ULV Activate’s engagement and activation methodology, refined in different countries and cities, can be deployed to guide corporations and governments to identify, understand, engage and activate their diaspora, or a strategic subset, to ensure delivery of their objectives and mission critical projects.
